Meet our project partner IDEKO

IDEKO is a research centre specialised in advanced manufacturing. The main research lines are artificial intelligence applied to manufacturing, precision machines and processes, simulation and digital twins, active and intelligent components, processes for parts and strategic sectors, robotics and additive manufacturing. With more than 35 years of experience in transferring research results to the market, their scientific excellence is carried out in four research areas: manufacturing processes, dynamics and control, design and precision engineering, and ICTs and automation.

Located in Elgoibar, it has a qualified workforce of 120 workers who carry out their R&D on more than 2,000 m² of prototype workshop surface and various laboratories. There, they test and validate machines and production systems (precision engineering lab, high-performance dynamics lab, composite materials lab, and the digital factory lab, cutting edge facilities and equipment). In addition, with the aim of promoting the transfer of advanced technologies to companies and strengthening the competitiveness of the industry, the technology centre has a space for research and development of digital technologies and high-precision grinding solutions, Digital Grinding Innovation Hub (DGIH).

The role of IDEKO in the project

In the Flex4Res project, IDEKO participates in the development of systems for monitoring inefficiencies and self-diagnosis in machines and production processes. Intelligent processes will be developed aimed at greater resilience of production processes. To this end, data models based on AAS will be generated for the Flex4Res platform that will be applied in the use case with GOIMEK, that is about large precision machining. Additionally, IDEKO is a technology provider for the GOIMEK use case.

IDEKO is part of Flex4Res, because…

… it is interested in developing technologies that support the needs for digitalisation and improvement of efficiency and competitiveness of their customers. By participating in Flex4Res, IDEKO aims to leverage data spaces for efficient and secure data exchange, enhancing the resilience of manufacturing processes. This ensures that production can quickly adapt to disruptions, maintain operational continuity and recover swiftly from any inefficiencies or failures.
