Flex4Res at Automatica 2025
Automatica 2025 once again proved to be one of the leading international stages for robotics, automation and smart manufacturing. This year, Flex4Res joined forces with our sister project R3GROUP to highlight the important role of resilience and reconfigurability in manufacturing.
Showcasing resilience and reconfigurability for the manufacturing sector
A highlight of the event was the panel discussion “Testing the Future: Digital Transformation for Agile and Smart Manufacturing”, hosted by R3GROUP on 26 June. Moderated by Tjerk Timan from R3GROUP, the session brought together experts from across Europe to discuss how AI, digital twins and IIoT solutions can enable more resilient and agile production.
Flex4Res was proud to be represented by Konstantinos Sipsas (Netcompany Intrasoft), who joined fellow panelists Marta Portalés (Mobile World Capital Barcelona), Giorgos Papapanagiotakis (Emphasis Digiworld), Harry Bikas (LMS) and Dr Christian Hertle (SFM Systems).
In his contribution, Konstantinos highlighted how Flex4Res is developing a federated framework for secure data sharing and Asset Administration Shell (AAS)-based digital twins to enable reconfigurable supply chains and production lines. He also underlined the importance of cross-project collaboration within the Horizon Europe ecosystem, showing how Flex4Res and R3GROUP complement each other in tackling industrial resilience challenges.

Technology demonstrations
Beyond the stage, the Flex4Res team was active in the networking spaces, engaging with innovators, factory operators and solution providers. By sharing insights from our industrial use cases, we demonstrated how Flex4Res technologies are being validated in real-world environments. These exchanges not only strengthened links with the R3GROUP community but also opened doors to potential collaborations and future pilots.
