Flex4Res successfully passes mid-term review
The European research project Flex4Res has successfully passed its mid-term review, held in early July in Brussels. This milestone reflects the project’s progress in strengthening resilience of the European manufacturing industry.
The mid-term review, conducted by one independent expert and one representative from the European Commission, evaluated the project’s progress toward its objectives. Launched in January 2023, Flex4Res focuses on developing technologies that increase the resilience of supply chains, by enabling their fast reconfiguration which result from of internal and external disruptions.
During the review, the project partners showcased their technical advancements, results and plans for the second half of the project, which will end at the end of December 2025. The reviewers highlighted several achievements, including:
- Successful use cases demonstrating reconfiguration of supply chains and production planning in real-world settings
- Notable progress in developing key exploitable results, ensuring that the project’s solutions are prepared for the market deployment and industry use
- Collaborative efforts across representatives of the industry, solution providers and research organisations to ensure a multi-perspective approach
Dr Kosmas Alexopoulos, project coordinator of Flex4Res, commented:
“Successfully passing the mid-term review is proof of the dedication of all project partners. This milestone brings us one step closer to contributing to a more resilient manufacturing industry in Europe.”
The next steps for Flex4Res include further field trials and scaling up the technology to address broader market needs. The project partners remain committed to delivering innovative and practical solutions that supports the European manufacturing industry in the flexible reconfiguration of production processes.
